The Punjabi bridal look, piece by piece
A Punjabi bride's jewellery is not one purchase, it is a sequence tied to ceremonies. The chooda — the red and white bangle set gifted by the maternal uncle — goes on at the chooda ceremony before the wedding. The kalire, the dangling gold-toned ornaments, are tied to the chooda by the bride's sisters and friends, and get dropped over unmarried heads for luck. Then there is the wedding set itself: a heavy kundan or polki necklace, a maang tikka or matha patti, jhumkas, a nath if the family follows that, and haath phool across the hands. Each piece has its moment, and buying them piecemeal from different sellers is how brides end up with a set that does not visually agree with itself.
Kalire, and why the attachment matters
Kalire are the piece brides most often buy badly, because online photographs make them all look equivalent. In practice weight and fastening are everything — a heavy kalire on a weak clip pulls, spins, and comes loose halfway through the day, and the bride spends the reception holding her arm at an odd angle. We stock kalire with secure fastening and customisable attachments — pearl drops, floral accents, crystal work, personalised charms — so the look is yours and the mechanics actually work over eight hours of ceremony.
Chooda that arrives before the wedding, not after
The chooda ceremony happens days before the wedding, which means chooda and kalire are the pieces least forgiving of shipping delays. This is the most common reason we hear from brides who ordered from overseas and then had a bad fortnight. We hold stock in Brampton, in person, which turns a four-week import gamble into a Saturday afternoon.
Built for the scale of Punjabi weddings
Punjabi weddings in the GTA are large — five hundred to a thousand guests is unremarkable in Brampton, Vaughan and Mississauga — and they are held in halls with high ceilings and long sightlines. Jewellery that reads as balanced in a fitting room disappears in that room. For Punjabi bridal we generally push scale up and favour earrings with movement, because motion is what registers at distance and on video.

Punjabi weddings dress the whole family.
